Washington U. Men’s Soccer Ties No. 3 Loras 0-0 in Double Overtime
St. Louis, Mo., Sept. 7, 2012 - Junior goalkeeper Jonathon Jebson made a season-high eight saves as the Washington University in St. Louis men's soccer team posted a 0-0 double overtime draw at home against No. 3-ranked Loras College on Friday night at Francis Field in St. Louis.
Jebson, who was three saves shy of his career high of 11, improved to 2-0-1 this season in goal for Washington U. Jebson and the Bears' defense have allowed just one goal in 296:53 minutes played, good for an 0.30 goals against average. The shutout for Jebson was also his second of the season and 11th of his career.
Loras outshot Washington U. 23-7 for the contest, and the Duhawks had a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks. The Bears managed two only put two shots on goal in the game, one apiece in the first and second half. Dylan Milkent made two saves in the tie for Loras, extending his scoreless streak to 380 minutes. Loras has not allowed a goal this season, outscoring its opponents 11-0.
Washington U. (2-0-1) begins a three-match road trip by traveling to Central College on Tuesday, Sept. 11. The Bears are scheduled to take on Central at 3 p.m. in Pella, Iowa.
Bear Notebook: The game started one hour and 45 minutes late due to a lighting delay in the women's 1-0 double overtime win by Washington U. … The overall series between the two teams is tied 1-1-3, with the three draws coming in their last three meetings.
