Medaille Men Post Shutout in AMCC Opener Over Penn State-Altoona
BUFFALO, NY - The Medaille College men's soccer team began defense of its AMCC Regular Season crown by posting their sixth shutout of the season, with a (2-0) victory over Penn State-Altoona, on the first night of Fall.
The Mavs got on the board quickly as John L. Smith tallied an unassisted marker just (00:34) seconds into play to give Medaille the (1-0) advantage. The Mavs would stretch their lead to (2-0) at the (27:00) mark when John Taggart finished off a nice offering from George Tor to seize control of the game.
As the game played out the Mavs would have several chances, but they did not need them as Penn State-Altoona was only able to put one shot on goal. The Mavs outshot the Lions (18-7) overall and (9-1) on frame.
Senior, goalkeeper, Nick Kurtz earned the victory between the posts as Medaille improves to (7-1-0) overall and (1-0-0) in AMCC play. They will look to stay on track when they face Hilbert College on Tuesday (9/25) at 4:00pm in AMCC road action.
