Baruch, John Jay Play to Scoreless Draw in Defensive Battle

More news about: Baruch men's team

The Baruch College Bearcats and John Jay College of Criminal Justice Bloodhounds played to a scoreless draw in a defensive battle on Saturday afternoon at the Met Oval in Maspeth, New York.

The visiting Bearcats (1-4-3, 0-0-2 CUNYAC) outshot the Bloodhounds with an 18-13 margin, but could not score to finish with their second consecutive CUNYAC draw.

The Bearcats had two solid scoring opportunities during the two overtime periods, but fell just short. Oren Kozlowski (Tulsa, Oklahoma) intercepted a pass and had a one-on-one opportunity against the goalkeeper, but his shot hit the right post in the first overtime.

During the second overtime, Danny Goldberg (Colchester, Connecticut) attempted a hard shot that was defended by the goalkeeper, but the rebound came out to Akil George (Arima, Trinidad & Tobago) and he quickly back-heeled a shot that was cleared off the line by a defender to keep the match scoreless.

George and Kozlowski led the Bearcats with four shots each this afternoon, while John Chtchekine (Garden City, NY) attempted a career-high three shots. Helder Correia (Carle Place, NY) earned his first career shutout with six saves.

Navid Allah Morad (Balkh, Afghanistan) led the home team Bloodhounds (2-4-3, 1-0-2 CUNYAC) with six total shots.

Baruch will return to action on Wednesday, September 26, with a 3:30 pm CUNYAC road contest at the College of Staten Island.
