Centre downs Rose Hulman for third straight win

More news about: Centre men's team

The Centre men's soccer team picked up its third straight win, holding off Rose Hulman to capture a 2-1 victory on Sunday in Terre Haute, Ind.

The game went deep into the second half before either team scored, but a pair of late goals by the Colonels proved to be the difference. Centre's Josh Settle(Bowling Green, Ky.) was able to break the ice with an unassisted goal in the 73rd minute, then with less than four minutes to play, Ryan Garvey (Louisville, Ky.) scored his team-leading sixth goal off an assist from Jack Goblirsch (Elizabethtown, Ky.).

Though Rose Hulman's William Senat answered with a goal less than a minute later, it was all the scoring the Engineers would manage on the day.

"This is a tough place to play, and we were up against it for 90 minutes," Centre head coach Jeb Burch said after his team's victory. "But we got the result on the road, and I think this will be a turning point for our team."

Centre took 12 shots in the game, compared with six for Rose Hulman. Zach Sosnovich made two saves in goal for Centre while Rose Hulman's Drew Miller had four stops.

Centre improves to 6-2 on the year with the victory while Rose Hulman drops to 4-4-2 with the loss. The Colonels now return home where they will open Southern Athletic Association play against Berry on Saturday at 7 p.m.
