Beavers Blown Out 8-1
MONTCLAIR, N.J. – Sophomore Felipe Maidana recorded his fourth goal of the season but the City College of New York men's soccer team (1-5-1) fell to Monclair State (8-1), 8-1, on Monday evening in Montclair, New Jersey.
Maidana's goal came in the 18th minute of the game and cut CCNY's deficit to 2-1 after Montclair's Almir Batista scored two quick goals to begin the contest.
Matthew Mbamelu and Lukasz Zalewski recorded their first assists of the 2012 campaign in the lone goal for the Beavers.
The Red Hawks scored two unanswered goals in the final minutes of the first half and came out strong adding four goals in the second half.
Goalkeeper Tayfun Kucuk fell to 0-3 on the year after making five saves in 29 minutes. Reigning CUNYAC Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week Danny Hernandez made three saves in just over 30 minutes of action.
City College host CUNYAC foe John Jay College of Criminal Justice on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 3 PM on the grass fields at Purchase College.
