Thomas More Falls, 5-0, to 15th-Ranked Division I Xavier
(CINCINNATI, Ohio) - The Thomas More College men's soccer team fell, 5-0, to 15th-ranked Division I Xavier University tonight (Thursday, September 27, 2012) at the XU Soccer Complex in Cincinnati, Ohio.
With the loss, the Saints fall to 5-2-3 and with the win, the Musketeers improve to 6-0-2.
This was the sixth meeting between the two Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area schools and first since October 2, 1989.
The Musketeers led 2-0 at halftime as they scored in the third and 36th minute, but added goals inthe 51st, 56th and 78th minute for the 5-0 win.
Sophomore goalkeeper Matt Kees (Covington, Ky./Scott) played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded six saves, while allowing five goals.
Xavier out-shot the Division III Saints, 23-6, and won the battle of corner kicks, 3-1.
Thomas More returns to action on Sunday (September 30) when it travels to Greenville, Pennsylvania to play Thiel College in both teams' Presidents' Athletic Conference opener. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
