More news about: Centre men's team

The Centre men's soccer team made its Southern Athletic Association debut and extended its winning streak to four games with a 1-0 victory over Berry College on Saturday in Danville, Ky.

It was a hard-fought, physical game with several chances on each side, but the teams played 78 minutes before either was able to get on the board. The decisive score finally came when Centre's Jeremy Carlson (Seattle, Wash.) played a ball into the box from the other side of midfield and found Ryan Garvey (Louisville, Ky.), who was able to beat Berry goalkeeper Logan Hill for the score.

Berry took 13 shots on the night, compared with 11 for Centre. Colonels goalkeeper Zach Sosnovich (Woodbridge, N.J.) made four saves while Hill had two stops.

With the win, Centre improves to 7-2 on the year and opens SAA competition at 1-0. Berry drops to 7-3 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

The Colonels return to action Sunday when they host Westminster at 5 p.m.
