Big Second Half Propels Medaille Men to Victory

More news about: Medaille men's team

STEUBENVILLE, OH - The Medaille men's soccer team used a three goal outburst in the second half to cruise past Franciscan University (4-1) and reach double digits in the win column for the 8th straight season.  The win also keeps Medaille unbeaten in conference play.

The Mavs dominated statistically throughout the game but weren't able to breakthrough on the scoreboard until Kevin Dhillon buried a ball played from John L. Smith in the 40th minute to grab a (1-0) lead, which they would carry into the half.

The second half would see Medaille score early when George Tor found the back of the net just (2:29) into the second frame to grab a (2-0) lead.  The Mavs would see that lead cut in half when Franciscan netted a header in the 57th minute to make things interesting.

The Mavs would ruin any hopes of a comeback and upset by Franciscan by potting a pair of goals over a four minute span when Alex Pollak tallied one in the 62nd minute followed by a John L. Smith goal in the 66th minute to sieze control of the game.

Senior goalkeeper Nick Kurtz would earn the victory between the posts, finishing with one save.  The Mavs are now (10-1-0) overall and will prepare for a huge conference showdown with longtime rival Penn State-Behrend on Wednesday (10/3) at 3:30pm in Erie, PA.
