More news about: New Jersey City men's team

BRONX, NY (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | Junior center defender MOHAMED CONTEH (Trenton, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro North) led a defensive unit that allowed just four shots on goal, and snapped a 57-minute deadlock when he put away a rebounded shot in the 79th minute as New Jersey City University outlasted Lehman College, 2-1, in a non-conference men's soccer game on October 1 on Lehman's South Field.

NJCU wins for the second time in three days and collects win No. 8 on the season (8-4), outshooting the Lightning (3-8-1), 20-12. NJCU, which also had an 8-2 margin in corner kicks, leads the all-time series, 10-3-3 (51-20 goals differential) and won the fifth consecutive meeting between the schools.

Conteh netted his first goal as a Gothic Knight at the 78:52 mark when he knocked in the rebound from outside the 18 of a saved shot taken by rookie midfielder ALEC METSCH (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick),

Rookie forward ABOUBACAR DIAWARA (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) scored a game-tying goal less than three minutes after Lehman had taken a 1-0 first half lead. Senior midfielder NANA KOFI KUSI (Newark, NJ/Kumasi Academy (Ghana) dribbled down the left wing before sending a pass in front where Diawara had an open look at the net at the 21:42 mark, putting away his third goal of the season off Kofi Kusi's first assist.
