Men's Soccer Shutouts York (4-0)

Brian Wrightscored two goals and Christopher Peraltaadded a goal and an assist to help lead the Baruch College Bearcats to a 4-0 shutout victory over the Cardinals of York College on Wednesday evening at the Met Oval in Maspeth, New York.

With the result, the Bearcats improve their overall record to 4-4-3 and 3-0-2 (11 pts) in the CUNYAC. The visiting Cardinals remain winless at 0-9-1 overall and 0-5-1 (1 pt) in the CUNYAC.

The Bearcats are in the midst of their best part of the season having accumulated four wins and two ties in their last six matches. Prior to this current stretch, they began the season with four losses and one tie.

Wright scored the first of his two goals at 19:30. Peralta sent a long pass down the right flank to an attacking
Kyle Keague, who immediately sent a cross into the box that found an unmarked Wright all alone to head home the goal.

Peralta scored the second goal at 54:19 on a free kick from just outside the top of the box.
Oren Kozlowskistarted the play by using his creativity to get free from a defender and sent a pass along the top of the box. A York defender was called for a handball in defending the pass, and that resulted in the free kick that Peralta curved over the defense into the goal for the 2-0 lead.

The Bearcats kept the pressure on in the second half and were rewarded with their third goal at 67:25.
Vincent Cruzevaded a defender down the right flank and sent a cross into the box that found a trailing Wright for the right-footed shot past the goalkeeper for the 3-0 lead.

The teams emptied their benches, but the Bearcats managed to score their fourth goal at 85:30.
Armando Aguilarbeat several defenders inside the box and had enough space to kick the ball for the goal and eventual 4-0 final score.

Overall, the Bearcats outshot the Cardinals, 18-13, including a 14-6 shot advantage during the second half.


Victor Tlepshevattempted six shots, while Helder Correiaand Guy Sharavcombined for the shutout with six saves for the conference victory.

The men's soccer team will return to action on Saturday, October 6, with a CUNYAC home contest against the Cougars of Medgar Evers College. Kick off at the Met Oval is scheduled for the updated time of 9:00 am.
