Medaille Men Cruise Past D'Youville in AMCC Soccer Action

More news about: Medaille men's team

BUFFALO, NY - The Medaille men's soccer team put on an exhibition of brilliant goal scoring tonight as they blanked crosstown rival D'Youville College (5-0) and remained unbeaten on their home field this season.

The Mavs started the scoring in the 12th minute when George Tor netted his tenth goal of the year on a bending rocket after a throw in and a pass from Alex Pollak to go up (1-0).  The score would stay that way for much of the opening half until the Mavs struck again on a nice free kick goal from Pablo Ordonez in the 44th minute to stretch their lead to two.

The Mavs would then tally another goal as time expired when Cory Carter played a ball off a throw in with just under four seconds remaining to Brian Cleary who booted a perfect volleying shot into the net as the clock hit (00:00) to take a commanding (3-0) lead into the break.

Coming out of the locker room Medaille got right back to work as Tor finished off a brilliant assist from Cleary who crossed the midfield line and made two spinning moves to get past a pair of Spartan defenders before playing a perfect ball to Tor who tallied his second of the game in the 54th minute.

The Mavs would wrap up the scoring less than two minutes later when Kevin Dhillon blasted a shot from the top of the 18 which rocketed off the crossbar to an open George Tor who deposited it into the back of the net to finish off his hat trick and the Spartans.

The Mavs outshot D'Youville (34-6) overall and (14-2) on goal en route to the impressive victory while posting their ninth shutout of the season.  Senior Nick Kurtz and sophomore Nick Augustyn each registered a save in the win with Kurtz playing the majority of the minutes.

The Mavs improve to (12-2-0) and (5-1-0) in AMCC play.  They will head to Pittsburgh, PA on Saturday (10/13) to face La Roche College in another critical conference game at 3:00pm.
