THREE GOALS NOT ENOUGH
Over the weekend, the Pacific men's soccer team scored three goals, but was not enough to come away with a victory. The George Fox Bruins scored five goals to claim a 5-3 victory over the Boxers. The Boxers did not play on Sunday. After losing the last four matches, the Boxers are looking to get back on the winning track. On Friday, the Boxers return home after traveling the past three games. The Boxers take on Linfield. On Sunday, the Boxers will take on Willamette at home.
BOXER BYTES
• Luis Quintana scored two goals on Saturday in 5-3 loss to George Fox, his first goals of the season.
• Jorge Mandujano collected two more assists on Saturday, helping the Boxers produce offensive opportunities.
• Grady Bryson scored his second goal of the season on Saturday to tie the match up at 1-1.
• Zach Cohen and Michael Summers split time between the pipes on Saturday. Summers continues to stay in the NWC statistical ranks in two different categories.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
LINFIELD
Linfield is currently fourth in the Northwest Conference with a 3-4-0 record, 5-6-0 overall. Chuck Bechtol is in his first season as head coach with the Wildcats. Last Wednesday, the Wildcats took a break from Northwest Conference action to play St. Johns. Linfield was shutout 2-0. On Saturday, the Wildcats took a tough loss to Willamette 3-2. Jake Baker is leading the Wildcats with five goals scored and 31 shots. Danny Snelgrow is right behind him with three goals scored. Grant Loriaux and Scott Goodman have split time between the posts, combining for 46 saves. Loriaux currently holds a 2-3 record and Goodman holds a 3-3 record in the net.

WILLAMETTE
Willamette is currently fifth in the Northwest Conference with a 2-4-1 record, 5-6-1 overall. Lloyd Fobi is in his second season as head coach of the Bearcats. The Bearcats only played one game over the weekend. On Saturday, Willamette collected a 3-2 victory over Linfield. Yazan Hishmeh is the current leader in scored goals with four. Trevor Jensen is right behind with three goals scored. Brayden Calder is currently 5-5-1 between the pipes with 43 saves.

HELPING THE OFFENSE: On Saturday, Luis Quintana (Sr., Quilcene, Wash.) score two of the three Boxer goals in 5-3 loss to George Fox. Quintana's first goal came in the 38th minute when Alex Arrington (So., Portland, Ore.) crossed from the right side on the ground. Quintana placed the ball perfectly between the posts, right down the middle. The second Quintana goal was off a corner kick from Grady Bryson (So., Montana City, Mont.) in the 77th minute. These two goals marks Quintana's first goals of the season.
ADDING ANOTHER ASSIST: After collecting two assists from the previous weekend, Jorge Mandujano (So., Corneilus, Ore.) recorded his fourth assist on Saturday in 5-3 loss to George Fox. The Boxers would tie the game in the 31st minute when Mandujano crossed from the corner to Bryson. Bryson headed the ball from the right side past Bruin goalkeeper Elliot Davis. Mandujano is currently ranked fourth in the Northwest Conference with his four assists. Overall, the Boxers are ranked fourth in the NWC in assists with 17. Mandujano currently owns one goal with 20 shots and 11 shots on goal.
MAKE THAT TWO FOR BRYSON: Grady Bryson collected his second goal of the season on Saturday in 5-3 loss to George Fox. The Boxers were behind 1-0 when Mandujano crossed from the corner to Bryson in the 31st minute. Bryson headed the ball from the right side past Bruin goalkeeper Elliot Davis to tie the match up 1-1. Brysons first goal came on Sept. 7 in 6-0 win over Walla Walla. Bryson opened the scoring in the 6th minute off a cross from Mandujano. Bryson's two goals this season marks three career goals. Bryson also tallied one assist and owns six shots and four shots on goal.
BETWEEN THE PIPES: The Boxers saw two goalkeepers in action in Saturday's match against George Fox. Michael Summers (Jr., Beaverton, Ore.) started the match. Zach Cohen (Jr., Grafton, Calif.) started the second half in the net for the Boxers. Summers and Cohen combined for four saves. Summers is currently ranked first in the Northwest Conference with 56 saves. Summers also ranks seventh in the NWC with a .700 saving percentage. Summers owns a 3-9-0 record between the pipes with two shutouts.

PACIFIC PICKED TO PLACE SIXTH: After posting a 5-12-1 record in 2011 the Boxers were picked sixth in a preseason poll of NWC coaches. The Boxers received 20 of a potential 64 points in the poll. Pacific Lutheran received five first place votes with Whitworth receiving two and Whitman receiving one. The Boxers were seven points in front of rival Linfield and seven behind Willamette.
