Greensboro Men's Soccer Earns Road Win Over St. Mary's 2-0
The Greensboro College men's soccer team went on the road to beat St. Mary's (MD) 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon. The win marked the fourth in the past five games for The Pride.
Morgan Stevenson tallied a goal and an assist in the winning effort. Stevenson set-up Liam Buckley with the first score in the 37th minute of the game. Buckley converted the goal with a high chip over the goalkeeper, just putting the ball underneath the cross bar.
Stevenson would convert the second goal, taking a cross from Drew Clukey and beating the keeper in the 66th minute.
Greensboro goalkeeper Manbi Nyepon and the defense did the rest of the work, holding St. Mary's off the scoreboard to preserve the 2-0 final.
The Pride held a 15-10 advantage in total shots with a 6-4 margin in shots on goal. Earl Floyd finished the game with a game high five shots and tied Stevenson for a game high in shots on goal with two.
Greensboro improves to 7-3-2 on the season. The Pride will return home for two Homecoming games this weekend. A showdown with Ferrum will open the weekend at 1 p.m. on Saturday with a game against Maryville at 1 p.m. on Sunday concluding the festivities. Both games will be played on Pride Field.
