Thomas More and Westminster Play to a 1-1 Double Overtime Tie
(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College men's soccer team played Westminster College to a 1-1 double overtime tie today (Wednesday, October 10, 2012) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at The Bank of Kentucky Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the tie, the Saints are now 7-2-4 overall and 2-0-1 in the PAC and the Titans are 8-3-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the PAC.
Westminster took a 1-0 lead at the 34:12 mark when Ethan McCarthy found the back of the net.
The Saints tied the match at 1-1 when senior midfielder Andrew Sullivan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) scored on a penalty kick at the 54:07 mark. Both teams couldn't find the back of the net over the final 55:53 and the match ended in a tie.
Sophomore goalkeeper Matt Kees (Covington, Ky./Scott) played all 110 minute in goal and allowed on goal, while recording nine saves.
Thomas More out-shot Westminster, 20-15, and won the battle of corner kicks, 4-2.
Thomas More returns to action on Saturday (October 13) when it travels to Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to play Geneva College at 6 p.m.
