Thomas More Wins PAC Regular Season With 2-0 Win at Waynesburg
(WAYNESBURG, Pa.) - The Thomas More College men's soccer team won the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) regular season title tonight (Saturday, October 27, 2012) as it defeated Waynesburg University, 2-0, at Wiley Stadium in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania.
With the win, the Saints improve to 11-3-4 overall and 6-1-1 in the PAC. With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 8-8-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the PAC.
The Saints took at 1-0 at the 28:24 mark when sophomore midfielder Dexter Morgan (Covington, Ky./Scott) scored off a corner kicks by sophomore forward Jonah Ritter (Dayton, Ohio/Carroll).
Thomas More added an insurance goal at 75:59 when sophomore midfielder Jake Plummer (North Olmsted, Ohio/Hearts of Jesus Christ-Corpus Christi) scored unassisted.
Sophomore goalkeeper Matt Kees (Covington, Ky./Scott) played all 90 minutes to post the shutout and recorded two saves.
Thomas More out-shot Waynesburg, 19-10, including 9-2 on-goal and won the battle of corner kicks, 7-3.
The Saints have earned the No. 1 seed in next week's PAC Tournament and will host No. 4 seed Westminster College on Tuesday (October 30) in a semi-final match. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m. at The Bank of Kentucky Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
