More news about: Thomas men's team

WATERVILLE, ME- The 2012 NCAA DIII Men's Soccer Tournament field was announced earlier today and Thomas College (15-2-2) is slated to face Williams College (13-1-3) in the opening round on Saturday at Williams.

Thomas, the #1 seed in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Tournament, defeated #2 Husson University 4-0 in the NAC Championship game Saturday night. The Terriers collected the NAC automatic qualifier into the NCAA tournament with the victory.

Williams, ranked ninth in NCAA DIII nationally, lost to second  ranked Amherst College 2-0, in the New England Athletic Conference (NESAC) Finals on Saturday, but was awarded an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Thomas will be making its second NCAA Tournament appearance in program history this weekend. After collecting the team's first NAC crown in 2010 the Terriers advanced to the national tourney and fell to William Patterson University 2-1, in the opening round.

"We are really excited to have won the NAC and be a part of national tournament," adds Coach Chris Parsons. "It is a great opportunity to play against a nationally ranked team."

Williams is making its 17th NCAA appearance in 20 years, most recently making the tournament in 2010.

Eastern Connecticut will face off against St. Lawrence in the other matchup at Williams on Saturday at 1:30pm.

The winners of the Williams/Thomas and Eastern Connecticut/St. Lawrence games will meet in a second round match at noon on Sunday at Williams.
