More news about: Pacific men's team

FOREST GROVE – Nick Rudella (Jr., Sammamish, Wash.) earned second team honors, leading four Pacific selections to the 2012 All-Northwest Conference Soccer Team, which was announced on Wednesday.

"I am happy for all the players who were recognized by the Northwest Conference coaches," said Head Coach Jim Brazeau. "The effort of the whole team allows individuals to be singled out for their accomplishments."

In addition to Rudella's second team selection, Alex Arrington (So., Portland, Ore.), Jorge Mandujano (So., Corneilus, Ore.) and Antonio Madeddu (Sr., Milwaukie, Ore.) earned honorable mention honors. The four players helped the Boxers with a seventh place finish for the season with a 3-11-0 NWC record, 5-14-0 overall.

Rudella led the Boxers with seven goals for this season. In 19 matches, he collected one assist and shot 42 times. Rudella scored one game-winning goal against Linfield on Oct. 14. He scored two goals against Pacific Lutheran on Oct. 27.

Rudella ended the season ranked in the NWC in the top-10 of three different statistical categories. He is tied for fourth in the NWC with his seven goals, tied for eighth with 15 points and for sixth with 42 shots.

"Nick played multiple positions for us and scored some important goals for the team this year," said Brazeau. "I am happy he was recognized for his efforts."

Arrington started all 19 matches for the Boxers at forward. He shot 34 times with 12 shots on goal. He finished the 2012 season ranked 10th in the NWC with three assists. He was second on the team with nine points.

"Alex had to play multiple positions for us this year," said Brazeau. "He did a very good job. I am happy he was recognized by the conference for his ability and work rate."

Mandujano played in 18 matches this season, scoring one goal. He ended the season, leading the team and ranked tied for eighth in the conference with his four assists.

"Jorge came back this season from a year off due to injury," said Brazeau. "It was nice to have him back and I am happy that his performance this year warranted a selection on the all-conference team."

Madeddu missed most of the season due to injury. He played in six matches with four starts. Madeddu scored his lone goal of the season against Whitman on Sept. 22. In the 12th minute, Nick Calkins (Fr., Hillsboro, Ore.) threw the ball  into Madeddu, who was inside the box. Madeddu fired between the posts to find the back of the net.

"Antonio was injured for most of the season, so for him to get recognized is a testament to his ability and overall contribution to the program the past for years," Brazeau said.
