Men's soccer season ends with 2-0 loss to No. 19 Wheaton

After a scoreless first half, Wheaton scored a pair of second half goals to defeat the Centre College men's soccer team 2-0 in a second round game of the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament Saturday, Nov. 10 in Wheaton, Ill.

The two teams battled back and forth throughout the first half. Wheaton had an 8-3 edge in shots and a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks, but neither team was able to find the back of the net. 

Just under five minutes into the second half, Mitchell Paur scored off an assist from Adam Blackman to give the Thunder a 1-0 lead.

The score stayed that way until the 81:39 mark when Blackman found the back of the net off an assist from Marshall Hollingsworth to seal the 2-0 win.

Wheaton out-shot the Colonels 21-9 for the match and had a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks. Senior goalkeeper Zach Sosnovich suffered the loss. The senior keeper stopped four shots in the defeat.

Centre ends its 2012 season with a 15-4-3 overall record.
