NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – Jimmy Ventriglia has been named an assistant men's soccer coach at the State University of New York at New Paltz, as announced Thursday by the Department of Athletics, Wellness & Recreation. J. Ventriglia brings five years of NCAA Division I assistant coaching experience to the table, having served under current New Paltz head men's soccer coach Gene Ventriglia when he guided the Army women's soccer program.

"I feel blessed to once again have the opportunity of teaming up with my son, Jimmy, in trying to bring a SUNYAC championship to New Paltz," G. Ventriglia said. "Jimmy was instrumental in the successful run we experienced at West Point. He will bring a total commitment to elevating the program to a higher level. He will add a tremendous amount of knowledge, energy and positive attitude to the program. He will make a difference!"

J. Ventriglia served as an assistant coach on G. Ventriglia's staff at Army from 2004-08. During that time, Army went 43-40-13, and in 2008, the Black Knights knocked off rival Navy in the championship game of the Patriot League Tournament. He earned a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) National Diploma in 2007, and in 2011, he led the Marlboro varsity boys soccer team its inaugural Mid-Hudson Athletic League (MHAL) title during his first year as the squad's head coach.

J. Ventriglia earned two varsity letters as an undergraduate men's soccer player at Colgate University from 2000-01, and as a student-athlete at Highland High School, he set the tri-county record for career goals with 120. While at Highland, J. Ventriglia was an All-State selection during his junior and senior seasons.

"I am really looking forward to the opportunity to join the men's soccer staff and once again coach alongside my father at New Paltz," J. Ventriglia said. "First as a player, then as a coach, I have benefited from his guidance, leadership and extensive knowledge of the game. We were able to win titles and championships during our time together at Army due to a relentless work ethic and constant drive to push our players to succeed. I will do all that I can to bring that same level of success to the men's soccer program here at New Paltz. I have no doubt that this team is capable of winning the SUNYAC championship."

J. Ventriglia earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from Colgate in 2004, and in 2008, he received his Master of Arts in teaching from New Paltz. In addition to his duties as an assistant men's soccer coach at New Paltz, J. Ventriglia is a history teacher at Marlboro High School.
