Stevens Men's Soccer Releases 2013 Schedule; Includes Eight Home Games

HOBOKEN, N.J. (May 17, 2013) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team has announced its Fall 2013 schedule.  The Ducks will play 17 regular season games, including eight home dates, the first of which will be on Saturday, Sept. 14 versus New York University.

Meet the newcomers

Stevens will participate in the St. Lawrence University Tournament along with Clarkson University to open the season on Friday, August 30 and Saturday, August 31.  The Ducks will take a week-long break before hitting their schedule in full stride as they are set to face The College of New Jersey on Wednesday, Sept. 11 in Ewing, N.J.

Three days later, Stevens will host NYU in the Ducks' home opener at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14.  The Ducks will complete a three-game home stand with matchups against William Paterson University on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. and Houghton College on Saturday, Sept. 21. At 12 p.m.

Matches at NYU-Poly on Sept. 25, Alfred University on Sept. 28 and Wilkes University on Oct. 2 make up another three-game road trip, with the Alfred game marking Stevens' Empire 8 Athletic Conference opener.  Stevens will continue its Empire 8 schedule, hosting Nazareth College, during Homecoming weekend on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 12 p.m., followed by another home matchup with Swarthmore College on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m.

Stevens will then hit the road for one final three-game trip, starting at Empire 8 foe Utica College on Saturday, Oct. 12 and continuing with games at the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Wednesday, Oct. 16 and Empire 8 opponent Elmira College on Saturday, Oct. 19.

The Ducks return to Hoboken for a three-game, season-ending home stand which starts on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. against Rutgers-Newark.  Stevens then hits the stretch run of its Empire 8 slate, facing last year's #2 and 3 seeds in the Empire 8 Championship with a 3 p.m. matchup with St. John Fisher College on Saturday, Oct. 26 and the season finale versus Ithaca College on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 3 p.m.

The Ducks finished last season ranked No. 10 in the nation with an 18-3-1 record after claiming their sixth straight Empire 8 title and making their 12thstraight NCAA Championship appearance, where they defeated No. 23 Methodist University, 2-0, in the First Round and Haverford College, 3-0, in the Second Round.  The Ducks posted a nine-game shutout streak that lasted over 1,000 minutes before the University of Scranton pulled the 1-0 upset in the Round of 16.  Four players were named All-Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association, with Daza and Casas earning All-America status (NSCAA, D3Soccer.com) and Killian tabbed the National Goalkeeper of the Year by D3Soccer.com.
