Bishops Edge Bridgewater, 2-1
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - North Carolina Wesleyan snapped a 1-1 tie with an early second half goal to defeat the Bridgewater College Eagles, 2-1, Friday afternoon in non-conference men's soccer action.
The Eagles took the lead in the 12th minute when Adrian Zamora scored off a free kick, making the score 1-0.
The Bishops responded in the 19th minute on a goal by Daniel Kamden to tie the score at one goal apiece.
The score remained deadlocked until the 57th minute when Samba Camde found the back of the net off an assist Lucas Gundermann for what proved to be the game-winning goal for the Bishops.
Eagles keeper Mark Davis finished the contest with eight saves in his first collegiate start.
The Bishops held a 20-8 edge in shots, including a 10-5 advantage in shots on goal. Each team finished he contest with four corner kicks.
The Eagles are back in action Saturday afternoon for the home opener when they host Gettysburg College. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
