Bates Blanks Maine Maritime
LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates College shutout Maine Maritime 2-0 in a non-conference men's soccer game Tuesday. The Bobcats improved to 1-0 while the Mariners fell to 0-1-1.
After a 0-0 first half, Bates went on the board when Peabo Knoth sent a cross across the goal that found Jonathan Lin at 60:43. The Bobcats added an insurance goal at 75:18 when Knoth netted a rebound.
Zach Shabman stopped one shot in goal for Bates while Jesse Perkins had two saves for the Mariners.
Maine Maritime returns to action Saturday, 5 p.m., against Southern Maine at the Husson University New Balance Challenge Cup.
