Freshman Jay Mikula Named Empire 8 Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 3, 2013) – Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer freshman forward Jay Mikula (Howell, N.J.) has been named the Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week, the Empire 8 office announced today.
Mikula scored three goals and added an assist to total seven points over just 74 minutes off the bench between the Ducks' 4-1 win at No. 20 St. Lawrence University and 5-0 victory at Clarkson University. The rookie put all four of his shots on target and bagged a brace in his collegiate debut against St. Lawrence on Friday.
Head Coach Devin Rensing will lead Mikula and the rest of the Ducks as they host NYU Polytechnic (0-1) in their home opener tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live online along with Livestats, both of which can be accessed through the men's soccer schedule page at StevensDucks.com.
