Men's Soccer Overpower Farmingdale State (5-2), Bearcats Travel to Upstate NY This Weekend

The Baruch College Bearcats won a high-scoring affair against the Rams of Farmingdale State on Wednesday afternoon at the Met Oval in Maspeth, New York.

The Bearcats exploded for three first half goals en route to a 5-2 victory against their opponent from the Skyline Conference.


Victor Tlepshevled in the victory by scoring a penalty kick goal in the 14th minute and assisted on Oren Kozlowski's goal in the 22nd minute for a 2-0 lead.

Tlepshev single-handedly increased the lead to 3-0 in the 29th minute. He stole a pass at midfield and went on a long solo run ahead of two trailing defenders to beat the goalkeeper for the easy score.

The Rams (1-1) scored their first goal in the 32nd minute on a cross into the box by Gerard Farrell to J.T. Famularo.

The Bearcats (1-1) kept the pressure on in the second half and scored for a 4-1 advantage as
Kevin Romerofound the back of the net on a perfectly placed through ball down the left side by captain Nicholas Kolaj.

Victor Romero scored for the Rams in the 76th minute on a long distance shot outside the top of the box to cut the score to 4-2, but Kevon Korbwould score the fifth and final goal of a busy afternoon in the 78th minute off a corner kick assist from Marcello Neto.

The Bearcats controlled most of the action this afternoon and out-shot their opponent, 14-8.


Helder Correiaearns the victory in front of the net with two saves in 83 minutes of action.

The men's soccer team will travel to upstate New York this weekend for a pair of non-conference matches.

They will play Utica College from the Empire Eight Conference on Saturday evening at 6:00pm, followed by a 1:00 pm Sunday afternoon contest against Morrisville State from the North Eastern Athletic Conference.
