Baruch Lose Tough Match to Utica (2-1)
The Baruch College Bearcats lost a competitive 2-1 non-conference match to the Utica College Pioneers on Saturday evening in Utica, New York.
The Pioneers jumped out to the 2-0 lead with goals in the 19th and 56th minutes to the delight of the large home crowd, but the Bearcats struck in the 70th minute with Edward Humphreysscoring off a cross by Victor Tlepshevto cut the home side advantage to one.
The visiting Bearcats kept pressing for the tying goal late in the match, but the Pioneers held on to secure their first victory of the season.
Kevin Romeroled the Bearcats with two shots, while six different players had one each in the loss to an opponent from the Empire Eight Conference.
The Pioneers, who suffered an early season 2-1 defeat to the defending National Champions Messiah College, won the shot battle with a 15-8 margin.
Baruch will quickly return to action on Sunday afternoon with a 1:00pm contest at Morrisville State
