More news about: Greensboro men's team

The Greensboro College men's soccer team (1-2-1) suffered a hard fought loss at the hands of Hampden-Sydney (3-1) in double overtime by a final score of 1-0.

The Pride controlled the pace throughout the first half, putting a lot of pressure on The Tigers goalkeeper, but came up empty handed to go into the half tied at zero.  The second half featured much of the same, with both teams going back and forth, before Drew Clukey fired the second of his team leading four shots with a shot on goal in the 54th minute that was saved by Cameron McFarlane.

In the overtime periods, Greensboro came kept the tempo up, but came up on the short end with eleven seconds to go, when Hampden-Sydney's Robert Kerby beat Pride keeper Manbi Nyepon with the golden goal for the victory.

Nyepon saved five of the six shots he faced in the goal for The Pride. Greensboro College held the edge in shots 17-10, shot on goal 10-6, and corner kicks 10-3.

Greensboro College will return to action on Wednesday September 11th when they welcome the Hornets of Lynchburg to Pride Field. Game time is set for a 4:00 pm start.
