NJCU OUTSHOOTS OPPONENT AGAIN BUT FALLS; GOUCHER EDGES SHORT-HANDED NJCU, 2-1

TOWSON, MD (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | New Jersey City University struck in the 6th minute before Goucher College answered in the 8th and the Gothic Knights played a man down for nearly 66 minutes before the Gophers scored the eventual winner in the 58th minute and outlasted NJCU, 2-1, on September 8 on day two of the JHU-Goucher Tournament.
 
In the first-ever meeting between the schools, NJCU (2-3) outshot Goucher (4-1), 22-19, including 14-7 in the first half, although the Gophers had a 12-8 margin in second-half chances playing 11v10. The Knights finished 0-2 on its Maryland trip, losing two one-goal games. NJCU had an 11-6 margin in corner kicks; Goucher was whistled for 10 offsides.

Sophomore midfielder/forward ABOUBACAR DIAWARA (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) scored the first goal of a game for the third time this season, giving him four markers on the season.
 
At the 24:07 mark of the first half, freshman goalkeeper NICK NARDONE(North Arlington, NJ/Queen of Peace) was called for a red card on a foul in the box in a 1-on-1 against a Goucher attacker and was disqualified from the contest, leaving the Knights a man down. Junior goalkeeper RUBEN MORALES (Princeton, NJ/Princeton) entered in relief and at the 24:07 mark, thwarted a penalty kick by Goucher's Nate Margolis, diving towards the left post, to keep the game tied.
