Ramirez Lifts Wesley Over Penn St.-Abington
DOVER, Del. – A goal by Danny Ramirez and a clean sheet by goalkeeper Mark Mattern gave the Wesley College men's soccer team a 1-0 decision over Penn State Abington on Wednesday night at Scott D. Miller Stadium.
Early in the 23rd minute, Keroll Newby sent a long ball down the middle of the field. Ramirez and Lions goalkeeper Dan Saint-Pol both charged the ball, but Ramirez beat the goalie to it and lifted the ball over the leaping netminder and into the net.
Mattern made five saves for Wesley, who recorded its third-straight shutout.
Both teams attempted nine shots on the night and Saint-Pol made three stops for the Lions.
The Wolverines return to action on Saturday, September 14, when they host Neumann in a 6 pm start.
