Bulldog Men’s Soccer Player Charles Izydorek Named SCIAC Male Athlete of the Week
It was announced earlier today by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) that junior forward Charles Izydorek(Redlands, CA) of the University of Redlands men's soccer team was tabbed the SCIAC Male Athlete of the Week for September 9-15.
Izydorek led the U of R to two SCIAC victories, scoring three goals in the undefeated week. Against Occidental on Wednesday, he helped the Maroon and Gray come from behind and erase a one-goal halftime deficit by registering the game-winning score in the 76th minute. The Bulldogs finished the game with a 3-1 triumph over the Tigers. Izydorek bettered his performance on Saturday evening against La Verne, scoring the game's opening goal before finding the back of the net for the dramatic game-winner in the 85th minute to secure the 2-1 victory over the Leopards. In the two contests, he racked up 12 shots, with seven going on frame.
Senior volleyball player Hayley Tamagni (Salinas, CA) of Cal Lutheran University garnered the SCIAC Female Athlete of the Week honor.
