UW-W Earns Fifth Shutout in 1-0 Win Over Carroll

More news about: UW-Whitewater men's team

Kyle Sundby (Verona/Verona) scored on a laser in the thirteenth minute as the Warhawks went on to beat Carroll University 1-0 Wednesday night in Whitewater at Fiskum Field.  The shutout is the fifth of the season for the Warhawks who are now 7-0-0.  The Pioneers put UW-W goalkeeper Josh Rohde (Waukesha/Waukesha West) to the test with six shots on goal, but the loss drops them to 6-3-1.

Sundby's goal was his second game winning goal of the year.  His other game winner was in a 1-0 overtime win against Dubuque on September 17.

The six saves by Rohde Wednesday night account for a third of his saves this season, and was one shy of his season high.  Rohde made seven saves in a match against Wartburg on September 14.

The Pioneers outshot the Warhawks 12-10 and both teams fired six shots on goal, but Carroll only managed one shot on goal over the last 35 minutes.

UW-W has given up just two goals all season.

The Warhawks, ranked twentieth in the most recent NCSA and D3soccer.com polls, will host Augustana Friday at 7 pm at Fiskum Field.
