Ramirez’s Hat Trick Leads Mount Saint Vincent Past Sarah Lawrence

Yonkers, N.Y. – College of Mount Saint Vincent freshman Victor Ramirez (Los Angles, Calif.) scored his first career hat trick and classmates Kevin Jardines (South Gate, Calif.) and Pablo Tellez (El Monte, Calif.) each scored twice as the men's soccer team posted an impressive 9-0 road win at Sarah Lawrence on Monday night. The win is the most lopsided for the Mount since a 7-0 shutout of John Jay on September 24, 2007.

Jardines got things started for the Mount in the second minute when he broke free down the left side and buried his first career goal. Tellez followed with his first off a crossing pass from Tavelli Errar (Bronx, N.Y.) in the 14th minute, before Ramirez scored his first of the game at the 15:46 mark of the match.

Ramirez got his second in the 37th minute when he scored from inside the six yard box and Eric Lara (Pawtucket, R.I.) redirected a shot from Hubert Bararwandika (Bronx, N.Y.) with under a minute to play in first half to send the Dolphins to the intermission with a commanding 5-0 lead.

Mount Saint Vincent cashed in on five of its 13 shots in the opening 45 minutes and held the home standing Gryphons to just four attempts.

Jorge Chavez got Mount Saint Vincent going in the second half with his first of the season and first since 2011 at the 48:00 mark. He collected a rebound from Tellez and found the back of the net for a 6-0 lead.

Jardines followed with his second of the game in the 64th minute before Tellez scored his second on a through ball down the middle from freshman Mario Lopez (Suffern, N.Y.). Ramirez finally closed out the scoring in the final minute with his third of the game and team leading fourth of the season.

The Dolphins finished the night with five players with at least two points, led by Ramirez's six. Tellez posted five on two goals and an assist and Jardines had four on the strength of a pair of tallies.

David Melchor (Los Angeles, Calif.) picked up his second shutout in as many starts on Monday, making a pair of stops. Elliot Warkus stopped seven shots for Sarah Lawrence in the losing effort.

Mount Saint Vincent wrapped up the game with a 26-4 edge in shots overall and a 16-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Dolphins, who did not allow an attempt after halftime, also led in corner kicks 5-2.
