Occidental Cruises Past Caltech for First League Win

LOS ANGELES — Freshman Morgan Bennett-Smithscored his first career goal and Occidental cruised to its first SCIAC win with a 9-0 win over Caltech.
After receiving a ball from Michael Tonetti, the speedy midfielder beat his man and buried his shot in the bottom right corner.
Drake Berglund opened the scoring in 23rd minute for the Tigers and Michael Tonnetti added one less than a minute later. In the second half, Marcus Brandford scored two goals while Christian Buchmann, John Richardson, Morgan Bennett-Smith, Conor Freeman, and Munraj Singh each added one.
The Tigers outshot Cal Tech 24-5.
Oxy tries to keep the momentum going against at Pomona-Pitzer this Saturday at 11 a.m. Oxy returns home on Oct. 5, when they play Chapman on the upper field at 11 a.m.
