Baruch Stays on Winning Track, Defeat Staten Island (3-1)
The Baruch College Bearcats defeated the Dolphins from the College of Staten Island, 3-1, in a CUNYAC home contest played on Thursday evening at the Met Oval in Maspeth, New York.
With the result, the Bearcats improve to 3-5 overall and 2-0 in the CUNYAC.
Victor Tlepshevscored the first two goals, beginning with his first in the 30th minute as he attacked down the middle to beat the goalkeeper for the score.
He added the second on a header in the 73rd minute after a cross into the box on an assist by Charles McConnell.
Kevin Romeroput the match out of reach in the 77th minute for the visiting Dolphins (1-8-1, 0-1 CUNYAC) by scoring on chip-pass assist over the top of the defense by Shaun Edalatifor the 3-0 score.
The Dolphins scored their lone goal in the 85th minute on a penalty kick to spoil the hard working shutout at the time by goalkeeper Guy Sharav(6 saves).
Both teams had 20 total shots each, while the Bearcats attempted eight corner kicks compared to three by the Dolphins.
The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday with a highly-anticipated CUNYAC contest at Brooklyn College scheduled for 12:00 pm.
