Bridgewater Turns Back Guilford, 3-0
GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Bridgewater men's soccer team picked up a big ODAC victory on the road Saturday evening as the Eagles blanked Guilford College, 3-0.
With the victory, Bridgewater climbed above the .500 mark with a 4-3-2 overall record. The Eagles are now 1-0-1 in the conference.
Bridgewater grabbed the lead in the 23rd minute when Ben Lewis put the Eagles on the board with an assist from Max Chacon.
The score was still 1-0 at the half, but the Eagles put the game away with two goals in the first seven minutes of the second half.
Chacon made it 2-0 when he scored off an assist from Derek Newsome. An unassisted goal by Adrian Zamora in the 52nd minute put the Eagles on top 3-0.
Bridgewater held an 18-13 edge in shots while the Quakers had the advantage in corner kicks, 6-3.
Eagles' goalkeepers Kevin Morris and Frank Simme combined to record the shutout. Morris played the first 65 minutes and finished with three saves. Simme finished up and added one save.
