Morrisville State men drop heartbreaker to Abington in OT

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College men's soccer team dropped a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) heartbreaker Saturday afternoon, falling 1-0 in overtime to host Penn State Abington in Philadelphia.

The loss is the first for the Mustangs in conference play, as they drop to 6-4-2 overall, 2-1-1 in NEAC action. Penn State Abington improves to 8-2 overall on the season and remain perfect in conference play at 4-0.

In a rematch of last year's championship title game, both teams had ample amount of opportunities during regulation to put the game away, but play by both keepers sent the scoreless contest into the extra frame.

Just four minutes into sudden victory overtime, Abington's Phillip Curry was awarded a free kick that sailed into the box and off the head of Marco Paparo for the winning tally.

Morrisville State keeper Rob Larkin (Clinton, N.Y.) recorded the loss, making seven stops on the day, including six in the second half.

Dan Saint-Pol was the victor in net for the Nittany Lions, compiling four saves, including one in the overtime period.

Morrisville State returns to the field tomorrow, traveling to Penn State Berks.
