Morrisville State men top Keuka 2-1
KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College men's soccer team posted a 2-1 victory over North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) host Keuka College Saturday afternoon in Keuka.
The win lifts the Mustangs to 8-4-2 overall, 4-1-1 in the conference, while Keuka drops to 4-6-1, 0-5 in the NEAC.
Early in the opening half, Jacob Chase (Cooperstown, N.Y.) stole the ball from the Keuka defense and fired the shot up the center and into the back of the net for the Mustang 1-0 lead at the 20:03 mark.
Morrisville State remained scoreless until the 73rd minute when Bryant Loomis (Cincinnatus, N.Y.) sent the ball into the box to the foot of Joe Sheehan (Liverpool, N.Y.) for the one-touch score on the near post.
Keuka got on the board late in the contest, with a one-touch score from Paulin Kolodja to Austin Gerber in the 85th minute.
Sophomore Rob Larkin (Clinton, N.Y.) posted the win in net, recording four saves for the Mustangs, who held the 14-8 advantage in shots.
Willie Romero had seven saves in the loss for Keuka.
Morrisville State returns to the field Friday, hosting Lancaster Bible at 3 p.m. on Drake Field in Morrisville.
