Warhawks Defeat Ripon College

The UW-Whitewater men's soccer team defeated Ripon College 3-1 Sunday at Fiskum Field in Whitewater. After a last minute goal led to a loss Saturday, UW-W bounced back to add another win, improving their record to 12-3-0. The Red Hawks fall to 3-10-0.

Bob Shone (St. Charles, IL/St. Charles East) scored the first goal of the game after 29 minutes, the only goal during the first half. After halftime, John Gottwald (South Milwaukee/South Milwaukee) was quick to drive the ball down the field and score the second goal of the game, assisted by Sam Kuchenruether. Gottwald leads the team in goals (6) this season.

Shortly after, Kyle Ricely (Lombard, IL/Glenbard East) scored his first goal of the season and UW-W found themselves ahead 3-0.

Alex Buchman (Waterford/Waterford) played in goal for UW-W the entire game and faced just two shots, one a successful penalty kick. Buchman's record as goalkeeper improves to 2-0-0 with the win.

This in the ninth consecutive win for UW-W against Ripon. The Warhawks hold a 20-7-1 advantage in the all-time series.

The Warhawks will host Loras College Wednesday at 7 pm at Fiskum Field in Whitewater.
