#17 Red Devils Rally Past Mary Washington 2-1

(Fredericksburg, Va.) – The #17-ranked Dickinson men's soccer team rallied past the University of Mary Washington, 2-1, on Wednesday afternoon.

 

The host Eagles struck first, putting a goal on the board in the 35th minute as Tanner Carlton finished an assist from Carlos Vasquez.

 

The Red Devils netted the equalizer in the 64th minute as the team's leading scorers connected to knot the match, 1-1. Senior Derek Kachadurian (Weston, Mass./Weston) found the back of the net with an assist from classmate Javier Mena (San Salvador, El Salvador/The American School).

 

Senior Jamie Martin (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) netted the game-winner, scoring on a free-kick with just under 15 minutes to play in the match.

 

The Red Devils held a 6-1 edge in corners but shots were relatively even, with the Eagles holding a 13-10 advantage.

 

Sophomore Jacob Schreer (Towako, N.J./Morristown Beard) made nine saves in goal for the Devils. Ian Waltz stopped five shots in the nets for UMW.

 

The Eagles drop to 6-3 on the season while Dickinson improves to 6-2. The Red Devils return to Carlisle for homecoming weekend. They host Johns Hopkins University on Saturday at 4:30 pm.
