Whitewater comes through in most crucial time, downs Yellowjackets
In a game where both teams seemed to struggle finding the back of the net, the last team to score was more than likely win the game if anyone scores at all. It took until the second overtime for either team to pop a goal. That team happened to be UW-Whitewater as they squeaked a 1-0 win.
The Warhawks came up with the last goal of the game in double overtime to gave them a 1-0 victory when Bob Stone sailed a shot past Yellowjacket goalkeeper Matt Elder (New Hope, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) at 105:56. The goal was Stone's fourth of the season.
Elder stopped three shots for the Yellowjackets while Josh Rohde turned over three shots for the Warhawks.
The Yellowjackets (8-6-2, 1-1-1 WIAC) will return to action on Tuesday, October 22. They will take on The College of St. Scholastica at Ordean Field. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
