Redlands Men’s Soccer Garners NSCAA Top-25 National Ranking

More news about: Redlands men's team

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced on Tuesday morning that the University of Redlands men's soccer team garnered a top-25 ranking in the most recent NSCAA national poll.  Previously not ranked, the Bulldogs are now No. 24 in the nation, and the only Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) program in the top-25 poll.

The rankings are based off of results up to Sunday, October 20.  On Saturday, October 19, the Bulldogs won in dramatic fashion over Occidental College, 1-0.  It took two overtimes to get the job done, but freshman defender Tom Elsea (Mission Viejo, CA) scored the clutch game-winner for the Bulldogs with just seven seconds left in the second overtime.

Leading the attack for the U of R during the 2013 campaign is junior forwardCharles Izydorek (Redlands, CA) with five goals and three assists.  In addition, junior midfielder Matej Kustura (Las Vegas, NV) provides a dynamic offensive threat, having racked up six assists and three scores on the year.

Defensively, senior defender Richie Marquez (Pomona, CA) and Elsea serve as the catalysts in the backline that owns a 0.89 goals-against-average.
