Richie Marquez Tabbed CoSIDA Academic All-District Honoree for Bulldog Men’s Soccer

More news about: Redlands men's team

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced late last week that University of Redlands men's soccer senior defender Richie Marquez (Pomona, CA) garnered Academic All-District honors for the NCAA Division III.  For Marquez, this marks his second-consecutive CoSIDA accolade.

With the laurel, Marquez is the only men's soccer player from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) to land on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.

Marquez, the captain of the squad, served as the lynchpin of the Bulldog defense all year long.  While helping the squad compile a goals-against-average of 0.85 on the year, he was integral in solidifying the defense which earned six shutouts.  A starter in all 16 contests, he led the Maroon and Gray to a second-place finish in the SCIAC regular season standings.

As a member of the Academic All-District Team, Marquez now advances onto the national ballot for possible CoSIDA All-America recognition.
