WPI’s Naugler Named CoSIDA Academic All-District I Honoree
Worcester, MA — Sophomore Kurt Naugler (Westford, MA) has been selected as a Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District I honoree by the region's Sports Information Directors. It marks the eighth consecutive year a member of the men's soccer program has received all-district recognition.
Naugler, a Charles O. Thompson scholar and member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, sports a 3.92 GPA in mechanical engineering and is now on the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
The versatile back, who has seen time in the midfield, netted three goals and two assists for eight points and helped the Engineers amass five shutouts in 2013. In two seasons on Boynton Hill, Naugler has netted five career markers, of which four have been game-winners, including two against Anna Maria and one against Worcester State.
WPI, under the direction of longtime head coach Malcolm MacPherson, who reached the 300 win plateau against Salve Regina, and first-year co-head coach Brian Kelley, wrapped up the 2013 campaign with an 11-5-1 overall mark and a 3-4 ledger in NEWMAC play.
