Albion Fails To Secure MIAA Tournament Berth
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Albion College needed another strong defensive effort to secure a berth in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Soccer Tournament.
It didn't get it.
Calvin College, instead, gained the league championship by scoring a 5-0 result over the Britons. Stephan Hooker scored a goal and dished out a pair of assists to lead the Knights.
The Knights broke open a game they led 1-0 at halftime by scoring three goals in just over ten minutes.
Albion goalkeeper Kieran O'Keefe stopped a pair of Calvin shots in the 32nd minute, but Sam Hanover struck for his sixth goal of the season in the 40th minute.
Andrew Byrne and Evan Schweizer placed shots on goal for Albion.
Albion closes the season at 8-10-2 overall and 5-7-2 against its league rivals.
