Senior defender Richie Marquez (Pomona, CA) headlined the 2013 All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) awards with his Player of the Year nod, while five other members of the University of Redlands men's soccer program garnered All-Conference accolades.  Bulldog senior forward Evan Keny-Guyer (Portland, OR), junior forwardCharles Izydorek (Redlands, CA), and junior midfielder Matej Kustura(Las Vegas, NV) all collected First-Team honors, while senior goalkeeperAndreas Silva (San Jose, CA) and freshman defender Tom Elsea (Mission Viejo, CA) earned Second-Team laurels.

With the six honorees, Redlands received the most all-conference selections of any school in the SCIAC.

Capping off a remarkable SCIAC career with the Bulldogs, Marquez collects his first Player of the Year award while registering his fourth-consecutive All-Conference selection. In each of his first three seasons at the U of R, he earned First-Team plaudits.  A two-time team captain of the squad, the veteran leader served as Redlands' big-time defensive stopper all season long.  While consistently shutting down the opponents' top offensive threat, this fourth-year Bulldog was integral in Redlands posting six shutouts during conference play to go along with an impressive goals-against average of 0.85.

Garnering his second-consecutive All-SCIAC honor, this marks the inaugural First-Team accolade for Keny-Guyer.  While experiencing a career-best year, he notched five goals and three assists, both his best-ever marks while at the Redlands.  Three of his five goals turned out to be game-winners, including his overtime golden goal vs. Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on September 25, and a top-shelf rip against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in a 3-1 triumph.  Moreover, he dished out assists in each of the first two matches of the season during wins over Occidental College and the University of La Verne.

Izydorek lands on the All-SCIAC First Team for the third time in as many years.  While only playing in 14 conference contests due to injury, he still managed to find the back of the net on six occasions, tying for the team lead and ranking sixth overall in league-play.  Like Keny-Guyer, he also registered three game-winners, including two during the first week of conference play against Occidental and La Verne.  In the exciting match against the Leopards, he scored two goals in the dramatic one-score triumph.    In addition to being a primary goal scorer for the Maroon and Gray, he also provided four assists, ranking second on the squad in the category and fifth in the conference.

Serving as the team's playmaker, Kustura garners his first-ever First-Team selection after landing on the Second Team last year.  Kustura not only tied his career high in goals with six to tie for the team lead, but he led the SCIAC in assists in 2013 with eight during conference play.  He dished out two assists in the early-season win over La Verne, and then notched two more against CMS later in the campaign during the 3-1 triumph over the Stags.  Not just dishing out important assists, however, he scored three game-winning goals on the year, including a late goal against Cal Lutheran University in 1-0 win and another against Chapman University in a 3-1 victory.  Moreover, Kustura finished the year strong and brought Redlands from behind to defeat Pomona-Pitzer on the final day of the season, 3-1, scoring two goals in the process.

Silva finishes a phenomenal career with Redlands, receiving his fourth-straight All-SCIAC accolade.  While on the Second-Team for the first time as a Bulldog, he battled through injuries during the campaign and recorded an 8-2 record between the pipes.  With eight wins, he tied for the conference lead for SCIAC wins as a goalkeeper, despite having started in only 10 matches.  In addition, he ranked second in the conference with a .810 save percentage.  On the year, he racked up 47 saves and a goals-against-average of 1.03, totaling three shutouts.

While experiencing a fantastic rookie season with the Maroon and Gray, Elsea started and played in 15 games and led all Bulldog defenders with three goals, ranking fourth on the team in goals and points.  Coming out of the back and into the attack, he provided a dynamic offensive threat in the air, scoring two game-winning goals for the Bulldogs.  His first came against Whittier College in a 1-0 win on the road, while his second game-winner came with seven seconds left in the second overtime against Occidental in a crucial road victory.  He added a third later in the year in a 3-1 triumph over Chapman.  In addition, Elsea was instrumental in the Bulldogs' 0.85 goals-against-average to go along with six total shutouts.
