Five Terriers Earn All-NAC Honors
WHITINGHAM, VT – The 2013 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Men's Soccer postseason awards have been announced and five players from Thomas College have been recognized.
Senior Michael Hand and sophomore Joshua Phelps were named to the NAC First Team All-Conference while Dakota Duplissie, Tre Ming, and Mikkail Crockwell were tabbed to the Second Team.
Senior captain Hand leads the Terriers in goals (11) and points (26) this season. His 11 goals were tied for second most in the conference, while tied for third in points. This is the third time in his career that he has been named to the NAC First Team along with being named the 2011 NAC Player of the Year.
Phelps, last season's rookie of the year and second team selection tallied three goals and three assists for nine points in his sophomore season, starting in all 19 games this fall.
Duplissie receives Second Team All-NAC for the second-consecutive year after scoring nine goals and totaling 20 points this fall. The junior forward notched five of his goals and 14 of his points in conference play to help lead Thomas to their second consecutive conference championship berth.
Ming, a transfer from Elmira College recorded five goals and seven helpers for 17 points in his first year as a Terrier. Ming's seven assists was tied for the most in the NAC. The sophomore forward appeared in all 19 games, while starting in 17 of them this fall.
Two-time first team honoree and 2012 NAC Defensive Player of the Year Crockwell continued to be a force between the pipes during his senior season for Thomas. The captain sported a 1.07 goals against average on the season, while having four shutouts. Crockwell's 18 goals against in conference play was second least, while his goals against average amongst NAC opponents was third best (1.07).
#4 Thomas will host #6 Colby-Sawyer in the NAC Championship on Saturday, November 9 at 4pm at Smith Field. The Terriers defeated top-seeded Castleton on Wednesday to advance to the finals for the second consecutive season.
