NCAA: #4 Stevens Tech 2, Baruch 0; Two Late Goals End Bearcats' 11 Match Win Streak
The Baruch College Bearcats suffered a 2-0 loss to #13-ranked
Stevens Institute of Technology (17-1-1-) in the first round of the
NCAA Tournament played on Saturday evening in Hoboken, New
Jersey.
The playoff match was tightly contested with no score through
the first 78 minutes, but the Ducks (17-1-1) broke through in the
79th minute with a free kick from 25 yards by Colin Phillips.
They added a second with three minutes left in regulation as
Carson Pryor intercepted a pass and slotted home a goal to seal the
victory in a match that was much closer than what the final score
would indicate.
The visiting Bearcats (12-6) were out-shot, 18-8, and saw
their team record 11-match winning come to an end in a valiant
effort this evening.
Guy
Sharav was outstanding in front of the net with eight
saves to give the Ducks difficulty all evening.
