Richie Marquez Lands on D3Soccer.com All-America Third Team
It was recently announced by D3soccer.com that University of Redlands men's soccer senior defender Richie Marquez (Pomona, CA) landed on the All-America Third Team. After garnering National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America laurels in 2012, this year's honor marks his first-ever D3Soccer.com All-America accolade.
In the fourth year that D3soccer.com has recognized the top men's and women's soccer players from across the nation, Marquez is one of 33 recipients of this year's All-America accolades. In addition, Marquez is the only men's soccer player from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) to receive the prestigious award.
While closing out his decorated career at the U of R, Marquez led the Bulldogs to a 12-4 overall record during his senior campaign. For his phenomenal defensive efforts throughout the course of the season, coaches from across the conference honored him with the SCIAC Player of the Year award, while coaches from all across the west-region tabbed him anNSCAA First-Team All-West Region honoree.
