Hamilton men's soccer donates books to area school

More news about: Hamilton men's team

The Hamilton College men's soccer team recently collected and donated more than 1,200 children's books and over 50 Hamilton College men's soccer T-shirts to Denti Elementary School in Rome, N.Y.

Members of the team collected the children's books from family and friends. On May 12, head coach Perry Nizziand a group of players delivered the books to the school. Nizzi and Teddy Clements '14 spoke briefly to the assembled students and encouraged them to read. Students who read a book and then briefly explained it to their classmates would be awarded a shirt.

"Growing up, I missed having good books," Nizzi said. "I had always wanted to donate books back to my hometown of Rome and with possible teacher layoffs, I thought this would be a good time to do it."
