Keltner Takes Over Men's Soccer Program at Summit University

More news about: Clarks Summit men's team

Summit University and the Director of Athletics, Mike McCarty, are excited to announce that Kyle Keltner will be taking over the soccer program as the new head men's soccer coach.  After much consideration, the school landed on Keltner, feeling confident that he was the perfect fit to continue to rebuild and carry on the traditions of the schools men's soccer program.

Keltner has a strong desire to invest in the lives of each member of his team, with the goal of preparing each player for life after collegiate soccer.

"I desire to create and cultivate a program that equips student-athletes with tools necessary to be successful both on and off the field", said Keltner.  "I believe sports is a microcosm of life and sports teach crucial life lessons."

The former collegiate soccer standout hopes to build the program by using the strengths of the school's returning players, like Wesley Pincince, David VanBuren, Colin Lockwood and James Filko, while hitting the recruiting trail hard to bring new and exciting talent to Summit University.

Former head coach, Sean MacPherson, had a solid four years of re-establishing the team, finding quality talent.  In the past four seasons, the team made its first ever appearance in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) playoffs and worked their way twice to the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Tournament.

Keltner, who will be the school's ninth head men's soccer coach, is no stranger to Summit University and the CSAC.  A year ago, he served as an assistant men's soccer coach at Cairn University.  He held many responsibilities including: recruiting, game day preparation, film analysis, community outreach and player development.

In his college days, Keltner was a standout dual sport athlete at Lancaster Bible College in both soccer and basketball.  Playing for the Chargers, he was named NCCAA East Region First Team and a First Team All-American in soccer his senior year.  The Lancaster Bible College Athletic Department also named him the Donald Urey Awards for Outstanding Impact on Lancaster Bible College Athletics.

Before coming to LBC, Keltner played two years of soccer at Northland International University and one year of basketball.

Graduating from Lancaster Bible College in 2010, Keltner earned a Bachelor's of Arts in Student Ministries/Bible.  Currently he is working on his Masters of Science in Organizational Leadership

Keltner attended Faith Baptist Christian School in Wisconsin, where he amassed numerous awards including Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player, and was twice named Wisconsin Athletics of Christian Schools All-Conference.
