Catunto & Dogbey Score in, 3-0, Win Over Hawks

Providence, R.I.—Junior midfielder Ty Catunto (New Bedford, MA) scored in the third minute as the Rhode Island College shut out Roger Williams, 3-0, in collegiate men's soccer action played at Alumni Field on Wednesday evening. |

RIC (6-3) got on the board in the third minute when a Roger Williams (2-8-1) defender misplayed a clearing attempt. Catunto then stole the clearing attempt and blasted in a shot from 10 yards out to put the Anchormen up 1-0. |

RIC preserved the shutout in the 36th minute when senior goalkeeper Chris Moura (Rumford, RI) made a diving save of a point blank shot from RWU freshman midfielder Garrett Bolton (Candia, NH). The Anchormen took the one goal lead heading into halftime after outshooting Roger Williams by a commanding, 16-3, margin. |

The Anchormen added to their lead at the 57:14 mark when freshman midfielder Kevin Tay Munoz (Providence, RI) took possession near midfield and sent a crossing pass to Catunto on the far right side. Catunto found juniorKomla Dogbey (Providence, RI) who then buried a shot into the upper left corner of the goal to put RIC up 2-0. |

The final goal of the contest came in the 75th minute when a Roger Williams miscue led to an own goal to propel the Anchormen to the 3-0 victory. RIC held a 23-7 advantage in shots for the contest and a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks. |

Moura recorded his third shutout of the season and 12th of his career with four saves for RIC, while RWU freshman Edmund Geschickter (Brookline, MA)posted eight saves in a losing effort. |

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, Oct. 1 (11 a.m.). |
